LACK OF RAIN.
I'OSITION AT RUATOHIA. (Special to the Herald.) RUATORIA, this day. Rain still bolds off. Threats have been made time and again during the past two weeks by the weather clerk, but apparently he views the road works with a more favorable eye than our lack of autumn growth. The growth encouraged by the showers some time ago, is standing still—merely needing a little soaking to encouragb it. The Waiapu is very low again. One almost thinks that the “oil officials” have a special call weather, their transport difficulties being down to a minimum, the river and roads being in'such excellent condition.' Business is reported as slack and the business people do not anticipate a good or even an average winter. Sheep and cattle deals and moves are few and far between. The dairy factory is still working and is in sight of its 60 ton estimate. It is anticipated that the factory will continue for some weeks yet until the manufacture per week drops under one ton.
