STOLEN SAFE FOUND.
PAPERS IN SECRET CODE. INCIDENT AT AIR CAMP. LONDON, April 5. The police have discovered the safe, containing very valuable documents, which mysteriously disappeared from the Royal Air Force quarters at Lee-dri-Solent. It was hidden in some hushes in the vicinity of the camp, and bore tvaces of unsuccessful attempts to open it. Owing to tho belief of the detectives that the theft, was not committed hv an outsider, all troops ■of the aiv force station weir© called from their Easter leave. The safe contained a secret code which is regarded as so important that it is written on special paper, which dissolves if it is dropped into water. Other documents are only weighted to ensure their sinking-nf similarly dropped. The thieves bent the door of the safe sufficiently to enable the extraction of ten £1 notes. Sealed documents, which are believed to relate to a scheme of hatianal defence in the event of civil disturbance, wei’o recovered intact.
