52 CAES STOLEN IN PARIS. PARIS, Feb. 22.—Fifty-two piotorenrs' stolen iri one quarter of Paris alone, the Ktoile, and transformed in such a way that their owners could not recognise them—this is the exploit of a band of thieves who appeared before the Correctional Tribunal. Implicated with the thieves were six persons whoso business i-t was to get rid of tho stolen cars. The thieves ■ were well-dressed young men belonging to good families, and their leader, Uoquelin, was so expert at tho game that he did not hesitate to drive qway in a stolen car under the rose of policemen. Immediately a icnr was stolen steps were taken to give it a new identity. The manufacturer was asked to furnish a duplicate of the certificate of delivery, and with this document the thieves had no difficulty in obtaining from the Prefecture of Policy the grey card, which is a car license. The 52 motor-car owners, victims of tho thieves, appeared in court-, aiid did not conceal their admiration for the cleverness shown by the bandits, all of whom were well defended, some having two advocates. During the lieari)ng, which was adjourned, a suggestion was put forward by an expert that thefts of motor-cars would be made unprofitable if the law which requires that no ear shall be bought without a written statement from the vendor'.was observed.
