TOAST TO MINISTER.

HEALTH HONORED IN TEA. A novelty ill conviviality was registered at the gathering of citizens which met Sir James Farr, on the occasion of his visit to Wanganui, recently, the health of the guest of honor being drunk in tea; In proposing the toast the Mayor, Mr. Hope Gibbons, who was. host at the party, said it was rather early in the morning, so that they were entertaining the Minister at morning tea, and not at anything more serious. (Laughter). Under the circumstances he would ask them to drink the Minister’s health in tea. (Applause). The toast was honored with enthusiasm.

Subsequently Mr. E. E. Fletcher remarked that it was the first occasion on which he had drunk the health of sucli a distinguished guest in tea. (Laughter). Mr. W. A. Veitch, M.P.: And you sincerely hope it will be the last, (Laughter). ________
