The last fireworks display at the Exhibition attracted a huge crowd to the Sports Ground last night. The weather was fine and mild, and a magnificent programme of gorgeous pyrotechnic novelties was got oil without it hitch, many thousands of spectators loudly applauding the brilliant and beautiful effects produced in colored fire. The attendance for the day mounted to 27,417,' bringing the grand total up to 2,685,332. The railway authorities are receiving many applications for excursion trains. A mile of them, comprising six trains, are coming on Saturday, one each from Christchurch, Milton to Allanton, Palmerston and Winton trade unions, Edendale dairy factories, and Invercargill trade unions. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. G. Coates, will perform the closing ceremony on (Saturday, May 1. A special train will leave Christchurch at 11 p.m. on April 30, and there will also be excursions from Oamaru, Palmerston, Balclutha and Invercargill.
