THIEF, FORGER AND CHEAT.
WOMEN DECEIVED. (Per Press Association.) THAMES, this day. William E. Walker, charged with forging and uttering a cheque, pleaded guilty and wasooinmittod for sentence. He. also pleaded guilty to the theft of two horses and was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on each of the two charges. Evidence showed that he came from Dunedin to 'l’airua and made- the. acquaintance of two women i named Moxley. He rode with one of the women to Puriri, where he sold his own horse. It appeared that he proposed marm'g<! to her and they came to Thames, for the ceremony, but on the woman finding he hud sold her add her sister’s horses, she gave information to tin’ police, who arrested him. It was found he was a married man,,foi’ whom a warrant, had boon issued at Dunedin for the maintenance of two children. , . •
