(Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) {Australian rnd N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, March 4.

In tho House of Lords there was a sharp debate on tho new Land Bill in tho Irish Free State following Unionist objections that the right of appeal to the Privy Council was menaced. Lord Cave pointed out that the Free State Government had taken umbrage at tho Privy Council allowing the appeal of three recent cases, the Free State-claiming that tho practice followed in South African appeals should be adopted. Lord Cave oxplained that no such undertaking had been; given and refused to believe it was the intention of: the Free State to depart from its obligations. The, Privy Council., was not. obsolete nor obsolescent,, but its jurisdiction was readily accepted by the great Courts of the Empire such .as {ha Supremo Court, of- Canada and. the High Court of Australia.' After Lord Haldane, Lord Carson and Lord Morris had spoken the matter was dropped.
