"This is not the first .accident that has occurred at Pariraa railway crossing, and in that respect it must be "considered a dangerous crossing. There. have been several tragedies lately in this direction, and public interest lias been aroused with a view to reducing liability to accidents at railway crossings. Judging from the remarks of correspondents in the papers there was no doubt that the railway authorities and Highway Boards and local bodies, will take some joint action to reduce to a minimum the danger that exists fit level crossings."

These remarks were made by the coroner, Mr W. G. BiddeU, at the inquest tin the death of James Power, who was killed lit Porirua level crossing on February 28. Evidence was given that deceased, was warned that the train was approaching.

A verdict of accidental death, was re turned
