WAIROA COURT NEWS.

(Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day

Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., presided at the Wairoa Court, when the following cases wore dealt with: —

LIQUOR ACT BREACHES, Jimmy Tahi was proceeded ttgainst for jjavinfi been found drunk on the WairoaFrasertowh road. —Fined 10k, in d'dfault seven days' imprisonment. The same defendant was fined £3. in default 14 days' imprisonment, for procuring liquor during the currency of his prohibition order. He was also charged with having supplied one, Dick Matwra. with liquor, knowing that he wag a prohibited person.—Fined £5, or 50 days' imprisonment. Tain was also -ordered to pay costs and in default to undergo seven days 'imprisonment, for supplying liquor in' the proclaimed Kahimgunu district, all the sentencas to be cumulative.

Dick Mataira, who was concerned in one of the above charges, was fined £4 and costs 12s, in default one. month's imprisonment, for procuring liquor during the currency of his prohibition order. ARMS ACT. Victoria Mabel Scott was charged with having carried a revolver in. a place beyond the precincts of her dwelling without a. license to do so.—Fined £5 and costs 7s. The same defendant was charged with having procured the said fire-arm without si permit.-—Fined 10s and costs 7s. The defendant was furtrer charged with having presented a loaded revolver at D. J. Murphy, of Mohaka.—Fined £ls and costs 7s.—The alternative of imprisonment was made in all cases.

Sydney Whaanga, for whom Mr. Sainsbnry uappeared, was charged with carrying'a pistol beyond the precincts of his dwelling at Nukaha without a license.— Case dismissed. For presenting a loaded pistol at Susie Tuhina, the same defendant was fined £2, costs 19s. Mr. Sainsbury appeared for defendant. SPEEDING MOTORISTS FINED. The police proceeded against Dennett Ratima for driving a car on the Fraser-town-Wairoa road at a speed dangerous to the public—Fined £lO, costs 12s. A. C. Wongsny was similarly charged in respect to his speed on the" Napier-. Wairoa road.—Fined £lO, 'costs 7s. Witnesses' expenses, £l. THE LONG PADDOCK.

William Kapu, for permitting a cow to wander on a public road, was fined 10s, costs 12s. Ratua Hamana, in respect to two wandering cows, was fined 10s, costs 12k. Mr. F. H. Jones appeared for defendant. Heremia Marsh, who allowed a Jersey bull to wander, was fined 10s. costs 12s. MISCELLANEOUS. L. R. Gray, a person excluded by regulations from admission to Te Kupenga racecourse, was charged with having butlii found on (lie course while being used by the Wairoa County Racing Club for a race meeting. Mr. Sa'insbiyy^appeared for defendant and pleaded guilty. Accused was fined £2. costs 7s.

J. J. Martin was charged with having sold tickets in a New Zealand Cup sweepstake.—Fined 10s, costs 7s.
