FRAUD CHARGED.
YOUNG MAN’S LAPSE. WARNING FROM THE BENCH. A charge of obtaining goods to the value of £4 ss, by fraud, from Robert Johnson, was preferred against- a young man, a native of Sweden, in the. Gisborne Magistrate’s Court this morning. Thu accused, Eric Larsen, pleaded guilty, and asked to be dealt with summarily. Senior-Sergeant Fitzpatrick stated that the goods had been obtained by accused saying his employer would guarantee the account. His employer had had a bereavement about that time, arid the shopkeeper refrained, on that account, from making tho customary enquiries. He had then madp for the hack country. Accused stated that ho had committed ths offence under the influence of drink, and had meant to pay tho amount. This being his first olTeuce, Larsen was ordered to "come up for sentence when called on, and to refund the value of the goods and expenses within 50 dnya. The Magistrate gave accused a sharp warning as to what would happen to him in tho event, of his not taking Fml advantage of the chanco given him.
