AUCKLAND MAIZE MARKET. There is no alteration in the maize market, bur supplies from Gisborne and the coast are restricted, and il is only the expected shipment from Bouth Africa which is keeping values fairly stable. Even so, the increase of duty from 6d per cental to 2s. on the African maize will prevent the shipment from being sold at the prices ruling for previous importations from this source.-Auck-land Star. STORTFORD LODGE BALI’. The Hawke’s Bay stock, brokers report hiding held their usual weekly sale a! Stortford Lodge, yards on Wednesday, when a- fair yarding of cattle and a. good yarding of sheep came forward to a, fair attendance of buyers. Both cattle arid sheep were hard! to quit, although the latter sold at easily a two shilling rise, on Waiptikuran last Tuesday. This is taking in the. quality of the sheep offered. The Mowing is a range of (trices realised : —Fat heifers up to £6, fat cows up to- £6 2s 6d. P. A. cows with calves £4 11s, steers £6 2s. fnf ewes 18s to 31s 9d. 2-t-ooth ewes 12s to los 6d,:4 and 6-tooth wethers 16s fo IBs 6d, f. and L wethers 245, 4 and 5-.voiir awes (low condition) 6s to 13s, forward woolly wether lambs 14s. irt.s. ■ shorn lambs 4s to 8s 6d. A nice line of 6-tooth ewes from ■Waimsiramn- station reached 26s 4d and 4-tootbs from the- same place' made 22s 9d. Messrs. Dalgetv and Co.. Ltd., have received the following cable from (heir head office. London, dated Feb. 23: “London,-wool sales; March .sales. The list of arrivals will close on March 1. The final wool sales this season will he on the following dates: Julv 6. September 14. and November 23. London tallow sales. We expect a rise in. prices at to-morrow’s sale. A rise of (id to Is. is expected. There is no demand for tine mutton-, we do not, expect any rise.” Messrs. Dalgetv and Co.. Ltd., have received the following cable from their head office. London, dated Feb. 24: “Tallow: At the tallow sales 1050 casks were offered, and 84 per cent, of the offerings sold. Prices for tallow are .Is. to Is. 6d. higher, except for line mutton, the prices for which are unchanged.”
