CHAMPION FOURS. RINKS ’ TOU RX A M ENT. The champion fours rink tournament was played yesterday at the Gisborne Howling Club's green under the auspices of the Gisborne Bowling Centre. The two games played prior to the final resulted as under: Button, Halford, Maude, Stephenson (skip) (Gisborne) 25, v. Contt.s, Wyatt, Hartley, Wilson (skip) (Poverty Bay) 10. This game resulted in an easy win for Stephenson, who scored on 15 heads, whilst Wilson only succeeded on six occasions. Bridge, Lougher, Moore, Mowbray (skip) (To Karaka) 11, v. Lane, Sawyer, Rothwcll, Newton (skip) (Kaliiitia) 30. Throughout the game Newton maintained a good lead, the score on the fourteenth head being Kahutia 20, To Karaka 8. Newton registered an easy win. THE FINAL. The final was contested by rinks skipped by Stevenson (Gisborne) and Newton (Kahutia). The contest was most exciting and up to the eighteenth head very even. In the first head Gisborne scored one, the second resulting in Sutton drawing on to Kitty, but Sawyer dislodged him and drew another. Maude Look one of the shots ‘out with a drive, "but Rothwcll drew another, which was beaten by a beautiful draw by Stephenson. Newton scored a couple of singles on the two succeeding heads, which brought the score two all. Stephenson registered two on the fifth head and one oil the sixth, making the score, Gisborne 5, Kahutia 2. The seventh head saw Lanel draw two “beauties” and Sawyer scored two more. Maude drove and made a “dead” head. From the replay Lane again drew two shots, which remained until Stephenson scored one. Gisborne scored on Hie next three, bringing llie tolal to Gisborne 10, Kahutia I. On the eleventh head Kahutia pulled up well, the Gisborne team all failing, and flieir opponents scored live. Gisborne .10, Kahutia 9. Tho next, four heads were evenly contested, the. score being .1.4 all. The eighteenth head saw Kahutia with the shot until the skips changed over, when Stephenson, with a good shot, scored two. Gisborne 16, Kahutia 14. On tlu! nineteenth head Halford drew a toucher, which was displaced by Rothwcll. Maude drew upon him and lay one, Newt on, with ail unlucky drive took out bis second shot and Gisborne scored four, Gisborne 20, Kahutia 14. In the last two heads Newton tried to “born the heads” as the position was too critical for him to score live, and took out his second shot, leaving Gisborne four. Final score: Gisborne 24, Kaluitia 15. TE KARAKA v. POVERTY BAY. In a friendly game between the above rinks Poverty Bay ran out easy winners by 28 to 8. ORDINARY GAMES.
