GOVERNMENT CONTROL

Referring to the New Zealand Kauri Gum Export Control Act, the Commerce Department to-day announced that tinsuccess of the British rubber monopoly in raising prices had resulted in the emula-' tion of that -coup by producers of other raw materials in various parts of the world. While kauri gum is regarded.as a possible vehicle for price-raising,, the Department adds that substitutes for the material are available and the chief interest regarding it lies in the evidence furnished of further tendencies of Government. control of raw material.
