“Where is the official slick” asked an auctioneer during llie fat cattle sale at Wallacetown tile other day (reports the Southland Times). He "was handed the “official stick,” which was a special yard stick for turning the cattle in the pens during the sale, and it was fitted with a l'uhher foot which prevented the lonising of the cattle when prodded with the stick. Previously the cattle were turned with an ordinary pointed stick, which often bruised the cattle when used too strenuously. The “official stick” Mas favorably commented upon, and no doubt more will be in evidence at future sales.
