"WILL BE DISBANDED."' SYDNEY TRADES HALL OPINION, BRITISH SEAMEN NOT ENTHUSIASTIC. (Received December 30, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec 30. The consensus of opiiiioft at the Trades Hall is that the British Seamen's Union formed during the recent strike will be disbanded, owing to.insufficient support Tho leaders, of most of,the maritime unions were always sceptical regarding the success of the venture, pointing out the needs of the British seamen were already adequately met by Mr. Havelock Wilson's organisation. There was much oppos'tioh anion' the rank and file that Mr. Walsh should be allowed to organise the Brit'sh seamen. It- is understood that some branches have given Mr. Wa'.sh to understand be. must choose between the generals presidency of the Australian seamen and the British seamen.
At the seamen's meeting yesterday Mr. Walsh did not ask for leave of absence, ae expected. > *lt is reported that the British seamen are, net enthusiastic about tliV new union. Many expressed dissatisfaction at the mnnner in which Mr. Walsh conducted the recent strike.
