Barnes (Queen's pawn opening).—Rapid exchanges reduced the material considerably, and tit the adjournment the game was greatly in .Miller's favor. Severne v. Cralcanthorp (Kara .Kami defence i. — Position adjourned with Crackauthorp a piece to the good. Moir v. Dunlop (Queen's pawn game). —An interesting and complicated position arose, Dunlop making a very spectacular move by offering his queen for nothing. Gyles v. I'Vnwi'k (Buy Lopez). — Fen'wiek has doubled his pawns unci Uvies is pressing the attack. SECTION "K" Purdy v. Davies. —Davies missed his best line, and is now a pawn down. Kaii-bairn v. Pihl (Queen \s gambit declined).-- A very hard tight, slightly in favor of Pihl at the adjournment. , Kclbing v. Anderson (Buy Lopez). — An exceedingly interesting contest, with chances about even. K. A. Dicks v. Ersicilic (Queen's gambit declined). —Eiskhic came out of the opening with a bishop for two pawns, and should win. E. E. Hicks and Stenhotise have byes in their respective rounds.
