CRISIS IN CHINA.
WARNING FROM FRANCE. THE ANGLO-JAPANESE ALLIANCE. (Reuter’s Telegram.) PARIS, Dec. 28. “The new aspect of tho Chinese crisis,” says Le Temps, “brings home to us the grave disadvantages which may ensue from ending the Anglo-Japanese alliance.” It points out how the close solidarity which united Japan and Europe would' thereby be broken and the Tokio Government compelled, for the purpose of ensuring the development ot its interests in the Far East, to adopt its action to a de facto situation it is unable to modify. Le Temps expresses Ihe opinion that the Japanese policy is becoming increasingly supple towards file Chinese and the Russians and points out Moscow has not protested against the action of the Japanese at .Mukden. KUO’S HEAD.. EXHIBITION IN MUKDEN., DISGUST EXPRESSED AT BARBARITIES. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received December 29, 1 p.m.) TOKIO, Dec. ,28. The Foreign Office has been advised from Mukden that- Chang’s son requested the Japanese Consul-General to order tho Consul at. Hsinminfu to surrender the civil right of Kuo and his wife to refuse the consulate. The request was refused, as it was understood Chang intended to execute them. Arrangements were being made for Japanese police' to escort- them to Mukden.
Though not officially confirmed, the Oofemment has reason to believe that the heads of Kuo and his wife had been exhibited' publicly in Mukden, and has expressed disgust at such barbarities.
