AUSTRALIA’S FUTURE.

LONDON JOURNALIST’S IMPRESSIONS. J (Australian and Cable Association.) LONDON, Dec. 27. Sir William Daniels, writing in tho Sunday Times his impressions of the Empre Press tour, says Politically, Australia offered tne most interesting feature. The delegates vvero able to study gn experiment from which (he people of the United Kingdom may derive profitable guidance should Labor become an effective power. He comments : “Mr 1 , Bruce is head of a Conservative Federal Govcrnmeqi. while five out of the six States are dominated by Labor.”

Sir W. Davies commends the steady development of the Commonwealth on Labor lines, instancing Arbitration Boards and so forth. He then proceeds: “Wherever the State trades in Australia and elsewhere the story is one of incredible waste and extravagance.” He prophesises that Australia must inevitably suffer in the process of growth. It is impossible to resist the conclusion .that the Labor party at present is the chief impediment to immigration. Regarding a White Australia., Sir W. Davios expresses the opinion that it is a magnificent ideal, but Australians must sooner or Inter face the necessity of admitting a certain proportion of indentured colored labor.”
