NOTED NAVAL OFFICER.

DEATH OF ADMIRAL J. C. 13. MACLEAN. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.; (Received December 29, 1 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 28. The death has occurred of Admiral J. C. B. Maclean. Hei was responsible for the. naval transport service during wnr-timo. Surgeon Rear-Admiral John Cassilis Birkmyre Maclean, who was 76 years of age, entered the Royal Navy in 1872, and retired in 1907. He was present at the bombardment of Alexandria and in the Egyption campaign in 1082, being specially promoted.
