SWINDLER WHO POSED AS KING'S COUSIN. , BERNE, Nov. 20. —An amusing story of a swii/dler Avho successfully passed himself off as a Duke and a King’s cousin Avas related to-day in the Basle Court, when the individual,. Stephen Otto, was sentenced to five months’ imprisonment, a fine, and subsequent de portation from Switzerland. The man rvas serving as an officer in the Belgian Army at the end of the war, and later enlisted in the army of General Wrangel, thereafter joining the Irish Republican Army. He next entered tho Foreign Legion, serving against Abd-el-krim, and was captured by the Riff troops.. Escaping from captivity, ho made his Avay to Palermo, and thence to t Switzerland. There CXto passed himself off as the “Due de Tervueren" and as a cousin of the King of the Belgiums, and, it is alleged, succeeded in winning, the confidence of everyone he met and extorting money from them.
