This >vas a very even game, which developed!, into a most interesting end game, when Anderson won a pawn.. Phil, however, defended skilfully and a draw resulted. Gyles v. Severne.(queen’s pawn game). Both pin,vers came out of the opening stages with even material and! even post ' lions.. . - 1 . / . • The -outstanding game in round' two, between E. A. Flicks and Kelling, resulted in a win for the -former, who played his favorite -French defence.
