The Wainui sailed for Auckland via Tokomaru May last evening. She leaves Auckland on Monday evening, and will be tendered here on Tuesday night or early on Wednesday morning with the launch for inward passengers. The steamer discharges her cargo here on Wednesday, and sails that evening for Auckland via Tokomaru May, the launch for outward passengers leaving the Kaiti side at 4 p.m. (meantime). The Waipald leaves Wellington on Monday for Napier and Gisborne. She is due here about Thursday next, and ou completion proceeds to Auckland. The Wanalcn was expected to leave Bluff yesterday for Napier and Gisborne, via the usual ports. She is due here early next month. The Awahou is expected! to he despatched from Auckland! for the Coast bays and Gisborne on Saturday. Slip is due at this port about Tuesday next. The K out ami i departed for Napier last night. The Tiroa is expected to leave Auckland on December 31. for Gisborne, via Const ports. The Kamo loads at Dunedin about January 6 for Napier and Gisborne, via Oamani, Tiniaru. Lyttelton, and Wellington. She is due here about January 12. THE K A BIT PURCHASED. The small steamer Karu, formerly beionging to the Union Company, has been bought in Sydney by Captain Watchlio for -the New Zealand trade. After refitting she is to load poles at Grafton for a New Zealand port. The Kara a composite vessel of 267 tons, and was built in Norway in 1901. She was first named the Taugauten and afterwards the Holmdale. Later, when she was purchased by the Union Company, she was renamed the Karu. The Union Company soldi her in April, 1924, and she was then towed from Port Chalmers to Sydney by the Waikouniti. It was intended that she should trade between Australia and the Islands, but ill-luck overtook her. with the result that she was seized for debt and then ‘auctioned under instructions from the marshal in Admiralty.
WfcATHIjE REPORT. A fresh breeze from west or north-west was reported from most parts of the North Island this morning, with light southerly at Opotiki and Cape Campbell. Blue sky with passing clouds was reported at Gisborne and 1 Wellington: and blue sky at Napier and Opotiki. The weather was misty at Auckland, misty rain- fell at-Tirtiri, with cloudy weather at other reporting stations. Temperatures recorded! were:—Cape Maria 61. Auckland 65, Tiritiri 62. Cpotiki 67. East Oape 65, Gisborne 72, Napier 71. Capo T’alliser 72, Castlepoint 76. Wellington 68, C.ipe Campbell Oft. STATE OF THE SEA.
