DETAILS OF CORRESPONDENCE. 'Australian ami N.Z, Cable Association.' (Received Dec. 24, 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 24. Correspondence between Air. Lang and the Governor I allied in the Asia mbly showed a big gap in (he lilo, disclosing there had been no communication from December Sill to Kith. The Alinister explained that this was due to letters being purely confidential. The correspondence showed that Air. Lung insisted on the Governor following the advice of his Alinisters.

The Governor pointed out that he had received communication from the Colonial Office to the effect it seemed that established constitutional principles required tli ti the question should be settled between the Governor am! his Ministers.

The Governor added: This placed the powers of tho Governor beyond question.

Mr. Lang replied dissenting from this view, and again urging the appointment of twenty-five councillors. Then followed the conference with the Governor and further a communication to Afr. Lang wherein Jlis Excellency intimated ho would consent to tin* appointment of fifteen members. Mr. Lang replied regretting, the Governor had rejected die advice of iiis Alinistors, and stating that any number less tlnn twenty-five would be inadequate. The Governor, after denying that he rejected the Atinister’s advice then agreed to the appointment of twentylive new members. Ministers were anxious throughout to maintain friendly relations with the Governor, but state they do not know his future intentions.

One Minister said lie feared the Governor would take a serious view of the affair and resign.
