The project for the formation of a new lawn tennis association, to control the game in the Poverty Bay and East Coast district, appears to have every chance of reaching consummation within the next few weeks. The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association lias intimated .that, providing tho Hawke’s Bay AssoeiaLot lifters mi objection, it will provisionally lecognise the new association, pending consideration of the application by the annual meeting of the N.Z. Lawn Tennis Assoeia :ion. in August.

Club’s courts in Rutene road. Teams representing respectively the Gisborne Club and the combined talent of the other local courts will meet in a series of matches, covering Indies’ and men’s singles, Indies’ and men's doubles, and combined doubles and singles; each of the clubs represented in the tourney will provide half-a-dozen balls for a common stock, the Association having at present no funds for the purpose.
