LONDON, Nov. 17.—There was a dramatic ending to the 72 holes golf match for a £2OO purse and. £IOO aside, in which Abe Mitchell defeated Archie Compston. At,--the (54th hole, where Mitchell was leading by 8 up and 9 to play, both approached within, a foot of the, pin on their third. Compston did not putt, but impetuously ran and shook hands with Mitchell, in token of surrender, thus technically losing the hole, Mitchell therefore won by 9 up and 8 to play. Mitchell retains the title of “Tho King of Golf. ’ ’ He was cool aud calm, and outplayed Compston in every department of the game. Compston was worried, but recovered tj-nd won three holes in succession from tho 45th. Mitchell was dormy. lU at tho (ifurl, Compston repeatedly found bunkers. •*
