An effort k about to be made to raise funds for the pun base of an aeioplane and to cover the- incidental expenses ol the trans-Tasman ilight contemplated by Flight Lieutenant J. ii. Monet ill and Mr. Victor Carmine.
The Mayor of Wellington. Mr. Norwood. lias consented to allow his room to be used for a meeting of those interested in the project anil who arc willing to assist in Hie campaign to rai.se the nece., .-,ar\- money, estimated at about £BSOO. Invitations are being issued to prominent men in the centres of the Dominion to meet and it is hoped to set up committees in the four principal towns to van va.sx for funds. The Mayor bad expressed a- personal interest in the daring undertaking of the two New Zealanders, wlm are keen to be the first to bridge by air the gap between New Zealand and Australia.
