The Chamber 'adopted bv 243 votes, to 44 and Emergency Bill authorising an increase of one and a half milliard francs in- the limit of the Bank of France's advances to the Treasury. M. Briand has refused the Premiership immediately, but promised to explore the possibilities of forming a combination with a stable majority. The prospect of success is doubtful. The Senate, by 170 votes to 103, adopted 1 a Bill in regard to an advance by the Bank of France to the Treasury.
