ACCIDENT AT TATAPOURI HILL. BACKFIRE SAID TO BE CAUSE. The backfiring of t lie engine of nil Aard-Duco motor which was climbing Tatapouri bill late last night, is declared (o have caused (he car to catch alight, and withina few minutes it was destroyed. The car was owned and driven" by Mr. .T. Hathernll. The driver of the ear stated to-day that he had been to Whangara and was returning about 10 p.m. When ascending the hill at Tatapouri the engine backfired and Iho car caught alight. The ear blazed fiercely for a few minutes, becoming a total wreck.
