The gig was being drived by John Bishop, farmer, of Taupiri, who was accompanied bv Mrs. Bishop. The horsp had been pulled up by Bishop in order to Allow the cxpi'esS which he heard approaching to negotiate the crossing when thb hpimal became frightened and made for the line. The train was travelling at a good pace and crashed into the animal, throwing the gig aside and hurling the occupants out. Dr. Isdalo, of Ngarunwuhia, was immediately summoned. An examination showed ‘Bishop to bo unhurt, although he suffered from severe shock. Mrs. Bishop was seriously injured and whs removed to Hamilton hospital by athbiilDUNEbIN, last night.. Mrs.. Caroline. Kathleen Dalgleisb, wife of Ralph Dalgleisb, of the Banquet Tea Rodins. Dunedin, whist bathing at Karitane, got out of her depth and was drowned. The accident w.is witnessed bv deceased’s two sistcrs-in-law. Mesdames WilliAm and Richard Dalgleisb, who were unable to render any assistancc -
