DECISION OF INTERNATIONAL
CONFERENCE

A plenary meeting of the Inter-, national Telegraph Conference adopted the increase, previously cabled, on maximum tertninal transit rates. It is understood in practice that- the rates generally will not. he raised, except in the ease of Germany, whose telegraph systems are working at a loss. ' It is learned that Britain has come to an arrangement with all European countries not to increase the ratgs either way except for traflio with France and Germany, but it is not, certain if the increases will fall entirely upon the public. In regard to extra-European trathe it is understood any possible increases decided by the Government will be absorbed by the cable companies.
