U.S. TO TEST “DEATH STROKE.”

SAN FRANCISCO, July 30. —An official test of his “death stroke,” claimed superior to the English “death ray,” will be made of! this coast early in September, according to Dr. Edwin It. Scott, inventor, here today. Scott said the test had' the authorisation of President Coolidge, and would he conducted 'midway between San Francisco and l Honolulu amid tic! greatest secrecy. Battleships and pilotless airplanes are to be used, he asserted, to demonstrate liis claim that the “death stroke” will deal death and destruction within a. radius of twenty miles.

In preliminary tests on the Mojave Desert Dr. Scott, claimed the “death stroke” killed animals at distances of from three to seven miles.

Dr. Scott was a student and protege of the late Charles P. Steinmetz. During the world! war lie sold his “Killnlite” shell to France for £175.000, and lie now has before the government a gasoline substitute. The inventor declared Dr. N. Grindell ihitthews’ “death rav” a “fake.” He said Japan, France and England also are interested! in his “death stroke. ’ ’
