Miss Lillian Ha.rri.sou, the Argentine swimmer, commenced to swim the Channel from Cape Grisnez, hut adanilonecl the attempt, after eight hours.
She fainted; in the water and commenced to sink in a choppy sea. llelmi, an Egyptian aspirant for Channel honors, jumped overboard from an accompanying tug but failed to hold Miss Harrison, owing to the grease with which she was plentifully besmeared. Others swam with ropes and haul((1 her aboard.
