COM RATTING BOLSHEVISM AND COMMUNISM. (Special to the Herald.) CHRISTCHURCH, tins i-.i.y. A publh meeting lias been called to consider tbe formation of an association for the more genera) cultivation of Imperial sentiment in the community. This matter has been under consideration by a (number of prominent citizens, who have drawn up a platform and issued a circular letter, in the course of which they say: The objects of the “Imperial Mission” are to bring before the public of New Zealand in a concise but emphatic form vvliat appears to be necessary to keep our connection with the homeland firmly cemented, but in no way to interfere with any work now being done ip. this direction by any kindred organisation. The objects of the Imperial Mission nro thus set forth : (1) To support and strengthen tho Imperial policy of the Home Government so tar at least, us it is calculated beneficially to affect Now Zealand. (2) To under-take a publicity campaign by propagandist lectures, to try to interest such sections of the community as are not now actively supporting any kindred organisation or interested in Imperial affairs. (3) To impress on the Homo Government the need of a strong navy in the Eastern sens for our defence, and especially of a strong naval base for the protection of Empire trade in or adjacent to the Pacific. (4) To bring pressure on they Dominion Government to induce it to do its share to this end by more adequate contribution to the British. Navy. (5) To inculcate) the use of Empire as distinct from foreign products and manufactures, and thus help to relieve unemployment in the Old Country. (6) To assist the movement for emigration within the Empire by every means in our power, but more especially by urging the Dominion Government to make requisite provision for the supervision of immigrants’ interests during the early stages of their settlement. (7) To secure an improved system of obtaining and disseminating in New Zealand Trustworthy information on all matters affecting Imperial welfare, and give wider publicity in Great Britain to Dominion life, conditions, and opportunities.

(8) To constitute an organisation at all times ready to oppose Bolshevism and disloyalty In any form in which it may arise in the Dominion, and generally to counteract all insidious advances towards Communism and revolution.
