The Poverty Bay Hockey Association met last evening, Mr. A. Cnssin presiding. The Ruahine ladies Team challenged for the Lady Carroll shield, now held by Poverty Bay. Affiliation papers were received from the Rangitira (Te Karnka) men’s club, and the Rnntorea ladies’ clubA.n application from the King Country Association for a match with Poverty Bay, in connection with the King Country team’s visit to Napier, was held over, pending the decision ns to where the New Zealand ladies”’ championship tournament is to be held. It was decided to submit dates for
the playing of Norden Cup challenge matches with Opbtiki and Wairarapa ‘■Vvdht.er. In the meantime, August lith was suggested as a. suitable date for - the Wairon challenge. -A trial match between A and B teams, selected from possible repre- ! sentutivo men players, was decided iipo’n for Thursday afternoon, the teams to be chosgn from among the following: — A team (white jerseys): Smale, Ka- .. tene, Perrin, 0, File, J-l. Fit/junurice, Baggingtnu, East, Wood, F. File, McKeague, Gordon, Emor and Hibbord. B team (colored jerseys): Piesse, McKay, Duncan, Nicholl, Pollock, Vaughan, Fitzmaurice, Olding, Venables, Corbett, Hey worth, Emer, Albrecht. . . The* ladies’ Thursday competition will proceed as usual, the matches being those postponed from last week on account of the weather —High School ;> A playing Allies, and Kia Tea meeting High .School 11. SATURDAY *8 GAMES.
Ladies: Mniiautuke v. Rovers, No. 1 ground, at '1 p.m., referees Messrs Greig and Cassia; High School A v. High School B, No. 1 ground, at 3 p.m., referees Messrs Greig and .Sim; Kia Ton, a bye. Junior games: High School C v. Rovers B, Messrs Haapu and Phillips; Manutuko B v. High School D, Mr. ganders.
