THE NAVAL VISIT.
FLEET IN ITS ORUTSTNG STRIDE. WORK ALTERNATES WITH PLAY. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.! (Received .Inly 4,2 p.m.) HONOLULU. July 3. (By radio from the warship Seattle). The fleet hit its cruising stride some time late yesterday afternoon. The vessels changed their formation shortly after 2 o’clock, and fell into the routine' which will last until they reach Pagopa go. Various picked athletes aboard all tlie ships have begun training for contests scheduled at Australian ports, rowing machines being installed on the decks of several vessels for scullers, while below deck boxers, despite the heat, punch sandbags, span - , and otherwise go through their paces. Lieut. J. E. Williams, captain of the rifle team which competes with the Melbourne Rifle Club, indicates his men underwent vigorous practice in Honolulu with local army shots, and is confident- they will prove victorious. Work alternates wiili play, however. Tactical and 'signal training which Admiral Goontz outlined in his advance orders has begun, and the commander-in-chief has indicated this training will he augMien ted during the next, few days.
Admiral Coontz and staff held a regular conference this morning at which outline and technical matters wore discussed. The only untoward incident of the last twenty-four hours was a- temporary breakdown on the Oklahoma, which, however, lasted less than- thirty minutes, the vessel resuming its place in the. formation.
