MOTOR-CYCLE RACES.
ON ISLE OF MAN. HANDLEY WINS A,GAIN. LONDON, Juno 17.—The TouristTrophy ultra-lightweight (1| h.p.) motor-cycle race in the isle of Man was won by W. L. Handley (England) on a .Rex-Acme machine. His time was 2h. 49m. 275. Johnston, riding a, Cotton, was second in 2h. 52m. 545.; J. A. Porter (New Gerard), 2h. 57m. 40s, being third. The race was won at, an average speed of 53 miles an hour. This was Handley’s second win in two dais. Stuart Williams, the Australian, retired in the fourth lap, owing to tyre trouble. SENIOR TROPHY RESULTS. The senior Tourist Trophy was won by H. R. Davies (England)- ■on an H.R.I). machine. 'His time was 3b. 25mY 265. K. Longman, ridinfc an A..LSI, was second, in. 3h. t 29nr. 10s.. and A. Craig, on a Norton, third, in oh. 30m. Bs. The course was 226 miles 760 vards.
Davies averaged 66,154 miles an hour, beating last- year’s time by 15 minutes. J. H. Simpson. (England), riding an A.J.S., did a record lap in 32m. 505., equalling 68.97 miles an hour. There were no serious accidents. 1
The distance for the ultra-lightweight race was 150 miles and 1680 yards. That a, machine of only 175 cubic ceuliemetres piston displacement should be capable of such a high average speed speaks volumes for the high degree of efficiency attained by British designers. Handley. riding a similar make u machine in the junior class (350 c.r.). on Monday, won at an average speed of 65, miles a n hour. His time beat by half an hour the old record for the course.
The annual international T.T. faces in. the Isle of Man are the worldfs premier motor-cycle fixtures.
