ARCTIC AIR FLIGHT.
DR. NANSEN’S PROJECT.
EXPEDITION YEAR AFTER NEXT. LONDON, June 10.—In connection with Dr. Nansen’s proposed transpolar airship flight, the Oslo correspondent. of the Times says that if is reported that the arrangements are being made for the 'constructi’on ot a special airship, of .150,000 cubic metros capacity and fitted with special scientific, apparatus. Dr. Nansen states that he hopes the financial side of the project will be completed in time for the flight to occur in 1027.
Fifty persons will make the trip, carrying with them food for ‘OO days and complete polar equipment-, in eluding tents, sledges, boats, etc., in case of a forced descent. The flight is expected to take 5000 hours. Starting from Murmansk, in the north of Europe, the airsbop will fly across the polar area to Nome, Alaska, where it will replenish its supply of gas, after which it will return to Murmansk.
