Much interest is being taken in the forthcoming Hunt, Club ball to ho held ip tho City Hall, on Jujy 31st, in coniiectiop with the limit races op the following day.

The Rev. Geo. Frost, will conduct the people’s service in Wesley Church, Bright street, to-morrow evening. The address is: “The Hope of Immortality.” There will he anthems ihy the choir.
A plain and fancy-dress masquerade hall is being held in tho Puha hall on July 9. Music is being supplied by Mrs. Thomson's full orchestra, and a good evening’s enjoyment is assured for all.
A special meeting of the djsborno Grocers' and. Shop Assistants’ Union is being held in Liberty Hall on Monday evening, when consideration will he given to correspondence relating to the Arbitration Court.
The Rev. F, A. Crawsliaw will continue his special addresses at the Tabernacle to-morrow on 1 John 3, at 11 n.m. Subject: “Life Proved By Love,” and at 7 p.m. the important subject of “ Conversion—What it Means,” will be the preacher’s theme.
Tho idea, prevails in many quarters that the doctrines of Christianity arp now outworn and can no longer be maintained by educated persons. That this idea is largely duo to misunderstanding, and that, the statements of the creeds when rightly interpreted are still valid, will bo the argument of the Rev. James Aitkor’s address in St, Andrew’s Church to-morrow evening. The subject, will be, “Is Jesus Christ the Son of,God?”

The vocal and instrumental concert to be held at. tile City Hall next Tuesday night, 23rd inst.. in aid of the Wae-renga-a-liiku Church fund, promises to be a great success, as a. large number of tickets are being sold. An excellent programme io to bo given by the best of Gisborne nrlists, assisted by Miss Kathleen Adair, solo pianiste, a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music. London, and. Mr IToani Halbert (violinist), who lias in reserve something fine for this concert.
