Rather an interesting position has developed in connection with the Ellesmere seat, in view of the forthcoming general election, consequent upon the decision of Mr Heaton Rhodes, the sitting member. not to contest the election. There are four aspirants For' the Reform banner:—Mr David Jones, chairman of .the Meat Producers’ Board : Mr Frank Coop, chairman of the Waireva County Council: Mr IV. H. Montgomery- of Little River, and Mr J. I). Hall, president of the North Canterbury executive of the Farmers’ Union.
