LA VENTURA’S GRACEFUL ALT

The outstanding success of the opening performance of l.a Ventura on Thursday evening led To Everybody’s Theatre being peeked to the doors hist evening, and none of those present could have hern disappointed ivilh the graceful, picturesque, and charming act rendered tiv the graceful little lady who is known as the Venus of the Flowers. It is impossible to accurately portray in outline the harmonious blending of kaleidoscopic colors which assured the success of the novel!v.

By a unique process of lighting the dress oi' the performer is made to change) till imaginable iiotvers being represented m the varying effects obtained. All sorts of .shower effects are introduced, and in the first act La. Vonlurn. gave a graceful dance, which, combined with the dainty dress effects, was unique and wonderful. In the second net. the performer was on a small

pedestal, and by a series of lights was blended into various pictures, her dress being made to synchronise with each particular phase. One of the most dainty numbers of all was that where La Ventura acted the paid of Hie butterfly, her artistic performance delighting tt-lie audience. At the conclusion of each portion of the whole act the performer was greeted with rounds of applause, and at Ihe end of her graceful act had to come forward and how acknowledgments. ‘The display is of a kind seldom seen, and provides one of the finest novelties ever-brought, to Gisborne. The management are to be congratulated on the outcome.

In addition to the performance of La Ventura last evening there was a fine programme of supports, of which “The. Girl Who (Tune Back” was the star item. A -Mack Sennett comedy, a

Gazette, and a light comedy picture comprised the balance of the programme. This evening La Ventura will give another performance and introduce a number of fresh novelties, while an excellent. supporting programme will he shown. The principal picture. “The Danger Point,” starring Carmel Myers, deals with the first year of married life, witli its attendant dangers. 'The plot is of an unusual nature and treats the subject hi an entirely new way. An excellent list of supports completes the programme. To-night an entirely new Master programme will be presented iri conjunction with La Ventura’s great act. “The Danger Point,” featuring Carme] Myers, is the main feature. It is said there is a danger point in every marriage, and usually ii occurs during the critical first, year. This is the theme of the picture, but- it is pictured in a new way.
