At this meeting there was much discussion concerning the matter of new club rooms, the vicar giving permission for the members to have the use of the piano for a time, if temporary rooms were procured in the town. The evenings during the year have been varied by socials, readings, sewing, music, etc; In August, Mrs. Nation instructed a class of girls in paper novelty work. The vicar took a Bible class for several months, the members finding it very helpful. Three circles of private prayer for the sick were formed, twenty-four members belonging to them. The monthly corporate Communion has been fairly well attended. Two services of admission were hold by the vicar, and eleven new members wore admitted. During the visit of the Bishop to the parish, the members entertained him and the girls recently confirmed and a happy evening was spent. On Juno 20 some of the members helped at the Pluukct ball. On July 3 the temporary club rooms were opened; when a social was held to celebrate the event. Pent having to bo paid for the rooms, a special meeting was called to discuss ways'and means, and it was decided to raise the membership subs to 15s, reducible to 10s if paid within a certain date. The annual ball was held on September 10, but owing to many counter-attractions it was not as successful as in former years., The members also helped at the Holy Trinity Young Men’s Cliib annual ball. Oil September 30 a complimentary social was tondbred to Miss Olive Wilson,
one of our best workers on the committee, in honor of her approaching marriage. During the year Miss I. Jvohn resigned tho secretaryship, aikl Miss G. Findlay was appointed in her place, and Miss Simpson took Miss O. Wilson’s place on the committee. Our sale of work, -which was fixed for March 1925, had to he postponed owing fo the infantile paralysis epidemic, and this year’s balance sheet suffers accordingly. The members took charge of the ice cream and soft drinks stall at. the Christmas Fair. Our piano, which has done duty toi a number of years, has been given to the Parish hall, and a new piano, a Bcchstoin, has been bought. This piano will be available for concerts later on when the new parish hall is built. Our membership at present is about (50. We wish to extend our grateful thanks to all who have helped forward the work of the club during the past year. E. Davies, president; G. Findlay, lion, secretary.
