The House of Lords read a second time the Merchant Shipping Bill, giving effect to a number of the draft conventions at the Washington Labor Conference in 1920, laying down a minimum age for the employment- of trimmers and stokers, and compensating seamen who lose their employment through the foundering of ships. Lord Merrivale urged that legislative effect be delayed until other signatories to the convention have taken similar action. Lord Peel promised to convey the suggestion to the Board of Trade. GENEVA PROTOCOL. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.! (Received Feb. 26 noon.) LONDON, Feb. 25. In the House of Commons, asked the views of the Government on the Geneva protocol and the amendments they intended to propose, Air Chamberlain said lie regretted he was unable yet to say when lie would be in a position to give the information asked for.
