MANCHESTER UNITY ODDFELLOWS

The quarterly summoned meeting of Loyal Gisborne Lodge 6087 was held last night, there being a- good attendance of both female and males, Bro. F. Hamilton Jones, N.G., presiding. The initiation ceremony ’was carried out with splendid effect by Hie officers, Bro. W. Duncan, P.G., presiding at Hie organ.. The final charge Was given by the secretary, who presented the candidate with tiie badge of the Order, after which the members gave the honors. A large amount of correspondence was dealt, with. Letters of recommendation were granted to Bro, P. 0. Niven, P.G., on his visit to Auckland, and Bro. W. 11. Harris; P.Q., who with his wife is making a trip to Brisbane, the best wishes of the lodge being conveyed. A special permit was granted Bro, J. K. Nasmith to take a trip for the benefit of his health after bis extended treatment afc the public hospital. There still remains a number of members' on the sick list, the benefits paid during tho quarter for sickness and hospital being exceptionally heavy. The sick visitors reported Bro. G. L. Goldsmith, P.G., now .resident in Hastings, was visiting Gisborne after his very serious illness, and was benefitting greatly. Regret was expressed at the contemplated departure from Gisborne of tho N.G., Bro. F. Hamilton Jones. At tho same time members all joined in wishing' him great success in Wairoa, Five candidates v.’cro proposed for membership. It was resolved that at the close of next lodge night’s business, a degree meeting will be opened. Degree masters will make every effort to be in attendance, so that ail the waiting members may be advanced. It. was decided that a member hii fined for a breach of rules, and that the secretary write explaining that the medical officer was the only one to grant certificates for ability to resume work.
