SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS.

ANNUAL REUNION.

On Saturday evening, the annual reunion and- smoke concert of Hie local Soldi) African veterans was held with great success in (lie Liberty hall. A most enjoyable time was spent, and several interesting toasts were honored, the proceedings being pleasingly interspersed wilh musical and elocutionary items. The gathering was presided over by Mr. J. B. Boy tiler, some 30 or 40 members of (be Association and friends attending. Toasts were honored as follow : “The King,” proposed by tho chairman; “Army, and Navy,” proposed hv the Mayor and responded to by Mr. F. O'. Murphy and Major Ralph); ‘-‘South African Veterans,” proposed by Mr. F. N. Pilgrim and responded to by Mr. J. Murrey; “New Zealand Parliament,” proposed by Dr. W. A. Bowie and responded to by tho Mayor; “Veterans of Other Wars,” proposed by Major .Hatpin and responded to by Mr. 11. O. I hirgreave; “Performers and Visitors,” proposed by Dr. Bowie and responded to by Mr. Pilgrim; “Boys Gone West” was proposed by ihe chairman, those present standing in silence. Musical and elocutionary items,-which were much enjoyed, were, given by Messrs. A. Za: I,.uriab, A. W. Humbling, F. Murphy, J. Hodden, R. Thomson, O. Ilargrcave, J. Lyle, and! VV. McClure. Several delightful selections were rendered' by Mr. T. iShone’ft orchestra.
