A POPULAR BABY.
KINDLY NAVAL MEN
(Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day
While a- father and his children from Waikato were visiting H.M.S, Dana# in Auckland on the occasion of the visit of the fleet another baby girl was born; The now-copier was named Danae, and the parents hit upon the idea of forwarding the birth certificate to the commander of the warship for endorsement. Instead of that request -being complied with, ..the parents have received a reply stating that- the certificate has been filed with the ship's papers, which, when the ship is placed out of commission, will be pigeon-holed in the Admiralty. A beautifully bound edition of “The Legend of Danae,” embossed with the coal, of arms of liio warship and a pretty gold brooch of the same design, were forwarded to the baby, together with a letter from the commander and officers.
