DEATH AT NELSON. (Per Press Association.i NELS-ON, last night. _ The death is announced of Dr. YV. R. Pearless, aged 70 years. The deceased served throughout the South African War and the Great War with the rank of Lieut.-Colonel. tie did fine work on Gallipoli, caring for the wounded well. He will be remembered by many returned men. General Richardson, during his visit to Nelson some time ago, referred io Dr. Pearless as “that- grand old veteran.’’ ■ Deceased, in tlie early days, took a keen interest in the volunteer movement and was also a- prominent figure in sporting circles.
