SOUTHERLY BUSTER.
SWEEPS OVER SYDNEY. (Elec. Tel. Copyright —United Press Assn. (Received Dee. 24. 3 p.m.) SYDNEY, Dee. 24. A fierce southerly buster which swept over Sydney did considerable damage to property in many suburbs. In several eases roofs were lifted into the air 'anti carried considerable! distances. Trees were uprooted, and big windows blown out.
From almost a perfect calm the wind’s velocity rose, to about forty miles an hour, and as blip full force of the gale was exporiancod squalls registered up to fiftv mile's an llmur.
Several people worci more of less sen’ ously injured by falling roofs and debris Many marrow escapes are reported.
Tho harbor ferry services wen? disorganised. small vessels being unable to leave port. Telegraph lines, were seriously affected. The services with Melbourne and Adelaide were eight, to ten hours behind time.
