George Brewer, aged 17, was changed wii.'h being idle and disorderly and with no visible means of support. According to a statement by the police, he admitted having negotiated with motorcar dealers! -for the purchase, of a car. One dealer dame tihe accused around in a car for three days and supplied him with meals. Eventually he arrange:! with another dealer to purchase a ear f r saying his father woald pay by chewue. A -few hours inter the dealer received' a telephone, message from a man, allecexlly a hank manager, that payment for the car would he made. Thff dealer's suspicions were aroused, and the accused found a dc«to> live waiting for him when he arrived. The accused's father lived at. Wan»an>ui. The accused was admitted to probation in, the south' soinei time on a chargeof false pretences. The M agist rait e (Mr Pnyn'on) remanded! the accused for sentence, saying that if the boy spout Christmas in gaol he might realise what he was heading for.
