STRAY DOGS.
ANOTHER HOME! WANTED
The question of the location of the dog pound is one that has come before the Borough Council oil— numerous occasions, complaints having been made at various times regarding tlx/ evening serenades given by the stray canines. The matter was again before the Council last evening, when a letter was received from Hi? proprietor of the British Empire hotel, wlm wrote with reference to the dog pound, and asked that it should be removed to a less populous part of tho town. The Mayor said the /Council had tried • to minimise the nuisance to the ratepayers. Cr- Todd suggested that the ‘reserve near the recreation ground might he suitable.
Cr. Corson said tliat- lie did not see how it could he obviated unless they sent Cr. Hill round with some dope. (Laughter.) Cr. Todd moved 1 that they reply to the effect, that they could not find any better place in which to put the pound. Cr. Bickford' moved an amendment, that the Council go into the matter as soon as possible. Cr. Hill: Surely with a little bit of reason we could get the dogs out of. tho centre of the town. Mr. Jones is a very peaceable sort, of man. (Laughter.) The Mayor suggested that the matter ho left ill the hands of the, Stray Dogs Committee. , Cr. Coleman: That’s Crs. DoCosta, Mill, and Mirfield. Cr. Hill: T don’t know that, I like being on the dog committee. (Laughter.) The matter was left to the committee, as suggested. ■
