Dr. Cumpstoii said ho had not seen anywhere any system as good as that of dental control of school children in force in New Zealand. He was of opinion that the Plunket system operating in the Dominion was better organised and controlled and more widely distributed than anything he had seen in the United States. The Americans did line work in this direction, but taken as a piece of national work, the New Zealand system was far ahead of anything that had come under his observation.

Whiie there were some things in the public health administration in the United States which could, with benefit, he adopted in these southern countries, and there were certain phases of administration of Ihe health of the people which suggested modification in the system of operation rh Australia, the average prosperity, education and happiness of the people of New Zealand and Australia made many of the drastic methods 1/1 force in American communities quif-?> unticL'cssai'v hero.

Dr. Cumpstoii, who is accompanied hy Mrs Cumpslon, will spend some weeks in New Zealand before going on to Australia, and will take the opportunity of conferring with Hie Directorllene'ral of Health (Dr. Valintine) and his staff in order lo bring himself up to dale mi the methods employed in New Zealand.
